SCA NAMED ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST ETHICAL COMPANIES FOR SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Global hygiene and forest products leader recognized for conscious capitalism in everything they do
PHILADELPHIA – March 26, 2014 – SCA, a leading global hygiene and forest products company, today announced that it has been recognized as a 2014 World’s Most Ethical Company® by the Ethisphere Institute, an independent center of research that promotes best practices in corporate ethics and governance.
This is the seventh consecutive year that SCA has been named to the global list, which recognizes organizations that continue to raise the bar on ethical leadership and corporate behavior. SCA is one of only nine companies in the consumer products category this year.
“This recognition is a direct result of the unwavering dedication and hard work of our employees, who strive to distinguish SCA and our Tork and TENA brands every day by demonstrating our company’s deep respect for people and nature,” said Don Lewis, President of SCA Americas. “We know that the ethical and sustainability standards we hold ourselves to are also important to our customers and suppliers and we will continue to work closely with them to have a measurable, positive impact in the environments we work in, while creating real business value.”
This recognition coincides with SCA’s annual sustainability report, which was released last week and emphasizes the company’s commitment to creating value for business, people and nature. The company seeks to make sustainability a driver of business results and not only tracks progress against metrics in environmental areas such as climate, water and energy, but also employee health and safety, innovation in sustainability and overall code of conduct.
The World's Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient™ framework. The Ethics Quotient framework has been developed over years of effort to provide a means to assess an organization’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics. The Ethics Quotient framework and methodology was determined, vetted and refined by the expert advice and insights gleaned from Ethisphere’s network of thought leaders and from the World’s Most Ethical Company Methodology Advisory Panel.
Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (25%), reputation, leadership and innovation (20%), governance (10%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (25%) and culture of ethics (20%).
